My author hat

Born in Montana, I moved to Alexandria, Virginia after completing my advanced degree in Economics.  There I met my husband and took up the nomadic life in the U.S. Foreign Service.

For nearly a quarter of a century, I have lived and travelled throughout many parts of Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia. My career path has been as varied as my geographical wanderings, ranging from social scientist to business manager to editor of the U.S. Embassy newsletter.

Three interests have sustained me throughout my many travels: gardening, textiles and writing fiction. I have always been a gardener and quilter. I began writing by co-authoring middle grade mysteries with my niece in 2008. I recently now embarked on adult fiction, under the pen name Eliza McCullen.

I have two adult children who share their father’s passion for globetrotting. As of this writing, they are residing in the Republic of Georgia and Guatemala, but that could change tomorrow.
